Ecchymoses may have been due to extracapsular haemorrhage from parathyroid adenoma

3 Parathyroid adenomas may be very vascular, and extracapsular rupture will cause neck pain with dysphagia and dysphonia due to a mass effect followed by ecchymoses in both subcutaneous and submucosal tissues as a result of the tracking of blood.
