Sub-Riemannian and sub-Lorentzian geometry on $\SU(1,1)$ and on its universal cover

We study sub-Riemannian and sub-Lorentzian geometry on the Lie group $\SU(1,1)$ and on its universal cover $\CSU(1,1)$.
