by Last year the CUETUG was delivered in 34 days, 93 shifts to avoid technical glitches which plagued the first edition of the exam a year earlier The exam was also extended twice Also the long duration was due to a particular subject being conducted over multiple shifts which also required normalisation of the scores during the announcement of the results This year the test will be in seven days, across 16 shifts All the subjects will be in single shifts, therefore there will be no normalisation of the scores All the candidates will have the same question paper, thereby face the same difficulty level said Subodh Kumar Singh director general National Testing AgencyEarlier NTA had announced the exam will be conducted between May 15, 31 but now the exam is going to be completed by May 24 According to Singh all candidates have been allotted centres within their states, majority closer to their homes so that they need not travel long distances The NTA, University Grants Commission UGC have decided that for the papers with the bigger number of applications the tests will be delivered in penpaper mode Earlier all the tests were computerbased The 15 subjects in penpaper mode include chemistry biology English general test economics physics mathematics among othersBarring Hindi, English all the language papers will be in computerbased mode The computerbased mode also includes for papers such as psychology fine arts fashion studies anthropology legal studies This year over 134 lakh candidates have registered for the common entrance test for admission to 261 central universities state deemed, private universities for undergraduate admissions DU Banaras Hindu University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University Lucknow received the highest number of applications respectivelyA total of 75, 62 CUETUG aspirants will sit for English, General Test this year respectively while in sciences chemistry with seven lakh registration is the top choice followed by physics 67 lakh mathematics applied mathematics 48 lakh, biology 39 lakh
